SHAH ALAM - A lecturer from a local university has earned the ire of Malaysians online after she allegedly provoked one of her students for not owning a computer.

According to a video posted on TikTok by @mochaxbaba, the student was chided by his lecturer for not having a computer during their teaching and learning at home (PdPR) programme.

The female lecturer had even told her student to ask his sister to sell off her belongings and use the proceeds to buy himself a laptop.

"Ask your sister to sell her gold bracelet and buy you a computer, this is why you could not study well because you do not have one,"

"After this, I will teach you Excel and of course, you will be a drop-out student," she said after questioning the student's family situation.

The student replied politely saying "No Puan, my dad is jobless and my mother has passed away".

Instead, the lecturer simply quipped that it does not cost much to purchase a laptop.
