Health Ministry recommends parents to get their children vaccinated before entering the endemic phase.

SHAH ALAM - The Health Ministry has recommended for children who have yet to receive the Covid-19 vaccine to get vaccinated immediately before the country begins the transition phase to endemic on April 1.

Deputy Health Minister Datuk Dr Noor Azmi Ghazali, in a statement today said this was to ensure that children aged five to 12, would be protected from the Covid-19 infection and its complications.

He said there were parents who were of the opinion that during the transition phase, children in the age group would no longer need to be vaccinated, when in fact, there was a 160 per cent increase in the number of Covid-19 cases among children who were hospitalised, this year.

“Parents should register their children as dependents in their MySejahtera application to secure a vaccination appointment or bring their children to a walk-in vaccination centre (PPV).

"Please choose to vaccinate your children because it has more benefits than the risk of experiencing side-effects after getting vaccinated.

He also said parents would get a time-slip as proof that they had brought their children to get their vaccination at the PPV, during the day.

Therefore, Noor Azmi said the ministry hoped that employers in both government and private sectors will cooperate to allow parents to bring their children to get their vaccination.
