Covid-19: New positive cases at 13k mark, a downward trend as nation heads into endemic phase

SHAH ALAM - Malaysia records 13,336 new Covid-19 positive cases in the last 24 hours, marking a downward trend as the nation heads into the endemic phase from April 1.

This is a much lower register of cases compared to yesterday's 16,863 cases.

In terms of Covid-19 death, the country recorded 54 new fatalities including another 16 brought-in-dead cases.

This makes the total cumulative death of 34,842 since the pandemic began.

In terms of cases, the Klang Valley still records the highest daily cases, with 7,875 infections detected yesterday.

Currently, there are 220,872 active Covid-19 cases, out of which 214,723 or 97.2 per cent is home quarantined.

However, only 873 persons are being treated at low risked quarantine centres while another 4,988 cases are hospitalised.

A total of 287 cases are being treated in intensive care units to date, with 185 of them requiring ventilator support.
