SHAH ALAM - Foreign-registered cars and motorcycles will be able to enter Singapore from March 31 onwards, following the announcement by the Multi-Ministry Taskforce on the re-opening of land borders between Singapore and Malaysia.

In a statement today, the task force said those entering Singapore in foreign-registered automobiles must have a valid Vehicle Entry Permit (VEP) and the VEP must be applied via online using VEP Digital Services on the Land Transport Authority's (LTA) OneMotoring website.

At Singapore's land checkpoints, it said visitors will not be able to apply for VEP or Autopass cards or update their road tax and motor insurance for their existing Autopass cards.

The task force provides instructions for obtaining new VEP or Autopass cards and updating road tax and insurance details for foreign-registered vehicles.

Prior to travelling, drivers of foreign-registered vehicles must receive the LTA's VEP approval email and those without Autopass cards must collect their Autopass cards at LTA's Johor Bahru Service Centre (34, Jalan Tun Abdul Razak Susur 1, 80000 Johor Bahru, Johor) before entering Singapore.

It said those who fail to provide Autopass cards and LTS's VEP approval email at Singapore checkpoints will be redirected to Malaysia.

LTA will be conducting a system upgrade on its VEP Digital Service on LTA's OneMotoring website and vehicle owners will be able to access the system from March 31.

It said travellers are advised to plan at least two weeks ahead of their preferred travel dates to allow sufficient time for VEP application and approval.
