Covid-19 cases up again at 22,491

SHAH ALAM - Malaysia recorded a total of 22,491 new Covid-19 cases, yesterday, bringing the cumulative number of infections to 4,054,926, from when the outbreak started.

Out of the 22,491 cases, 22,109 involved locals while 386 involved imported cases.

At the same time, 26,234 patients have recovered from the disease yesterday while the number of people who have died due to Covid-19 in the country since the pandemic began was 34,600.

A total of 332 out of the active cases were in Intensive Care Units (ICU) while 189 ventilated Covid-19 cases were recorded.

Lembah Klang and Selangor have recorded the most cases compared to other states in the country, with an average of 10,307 and 7,678 cases respectively.

Meanwhile, Perak recorded the highest number of deaths yesterday, with 59 deaths.

According to Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, a total of 22,326 cases out of the 22,491 new Covid-19 cases yesterday involved categories one and two.

In a statement today, he said 0.73 per cent or 165 cases reported yesterday were in categories three, four and five.

He said no new Covid-19 clusters were reported yesterday while 273 clusters were still active until today.
