Tony Pua, Ong Kian Ming no longer part of DAP leadership
SHAH ALAM: Well-known DAP leaders Tony Pua, Ong Kian Ming and Yeo Bee Yin have failed to defend their seats in the DAP Central Executive Committee (CEC), after being voted out from party leadership by delegates at the party's congress today.
They failed to make it to the top 30 while Puchong MP Gobind Singh Deo (1,782), Seremban MP Anthony Loke Siew Fook (1,641) and Penang DAP chief Chow Kon Yeow (1,625) made it to the top three.
In the past, Pua and Ong had also suggested that Pakatan Harapan (PH) should look into bipartisan political cooperation put forward by then Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin just days before he resigned in August.
The cooperation was then named memorandum of understanding (MoU) and was signed between PH and Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob's administration.
The elected top 30 will be appointed to fill the respective positions in the party. Their term will last until 2025.
Loke has been elected as the new DAP secretary-general, replacing Lim Guan Eng.
Guan Eng won the CEC seat and has been appointed as the new chairperson. Guan Eng had to step down from his secretary-general post after the three term-limit ended set by the party.
Cheras MP Tan Kok Wai is now the party adviser while Teluk Intan MP Nga Kor Ming is the new party whip.
