Loke replaces Guan Eng as the new DAP sec-gen

SHAH ALAM: DAP has welcomed its third generation of leaders after Seremban MP Anthony Loke Siew Fook was elected as the new DAP secretary-general, replacing Lim Guan Eng at DAP's congress today.

DAP's first-generation Lim Kit Siang retired today. The second-generation are Tan Kok Wai, Fong Kui Lun, and Lim Guan Eng who are still part of the DAP's central executive committee (CEC).

Guan Eng won the CEC seat and has been appointed as the new chairperson. Guan Eng had to step down from his secretary-general post after the three term-limit ended set by the party.

Among those new in the CEC lineup are Young Syefura Othman, the only Malay candidate to make it onto the list.

She replaces Zairil Khir Johari as the only Malay representative at CEC. Zairil failed to defend his position on the CEC in this election.

Others in the CEC list are Gobind Singh Deo, Teresa Kok, Fong Kui Lun, Tan Kok Wai, Wong Kah Woh, Kasthuri Patto and Thomas Su. Outspoken Ronnie Liu managed to be in the CEC list.

Cheras MP Tan Kok Wai is now the party adviser while Teluk Intan MP Nga Kor Ming is the new party whip.
