KOTA KINABALU - Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS), which was registered last week, consists of four parties; Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu), Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS), Parti Solidarity Tanah Airku (Star) and Parti Maju Sabah (SAPP).

Its chairman Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor said the GRS meeting was held for the first time after it was approved by the Registrar of Societies (RoS).

“For your information, the GRS leadership includes me as chairman, while the deputy chairman is Datuk Seri Maximus Onglkili (President PBS), Datuk Jeffrry Kitingan (Star President) and Datuk Yong Teck Lee (President SAPPI).

“We will complete the GRS structure in the nearest future and announce the next meeting. The recognition of GRS is a historical moment with the new Sabah politics combining four parties together,” he said after a press conference.

Commenting on the absence of Umno and Barisan Nasional in the group, the Sabah Chief Minister said the two were in government with them.

“Currently the state government is with Umno and BN but for official purposes, GRS is only four parties while Umno-BN is our allies in the state,” he said.

Hajiji added that other parties interested to join the coalition include Kesejahteraan Demockatik Masyarakat.

“A special committee to create reports for the supreme council will be established in the near future to evaluate applications for other parties in Sabah.
