SHAH ALAM - Malaysians should not be afraid to voice out if the government is not acting in their best interest, said National Patriots Association (Patriot) president Brig-Jen (Rtd) Datuk Mohamed Arshad Raji.

Arshad said the public must point out in any form they can of wrongful acts or acts of corruption.

"Don't be afraid, this is the public's right, post your opinions on social media and write-up in blogs," he said.

Arshad's comments came after an interview with Sinar Daily yesterday when he outlines several initiatives divided into five main trusts to help rebuild the nation and return the national consciousness on the right track.

The five trusts include cooperating with the government, the civil service, government agencies, Malaysians and Patriot members to help drive good values, patriotism and critical thinking at every level of society.

Arshad said he and his organisation is compelled to do their part and help the nation as it grapples with economic and political uncertainty.

"In light of what is happening in the country today, the Patriot feels responsible for uniting the people, NGOs, ministries, government departments and agencies to try to help restore the country as best we can.

"I am not happy with what is happening with the country, and I feel it is my responsibility to have a voice so I formed this association and found the response was good. If it is true that every ministry has achieved 90 per cent of success within 100 days of 9th Prime Minister rule as stated, for sure it will benefit the country and people, but that does not happen here,"

"Instead, all these new ministers have received Vellfire and some special officers have been upgraded to the ministerial level. Is this all a reward because the ministry has shown 90 per cent achievement. What I am trying to convey here is just a matter of the many problems our country is facing that the government could not deal with wisely and effectively despite having dozens of ministers, deputy ministers and special officers. " said Arsyad Raji.

Arshad further explained that this effort is also borne out of the situation where Malaysians have generally lost confidence in the current government which he claims clearly could not demonstrate the ability and wisdom to lead the country.

"The people are struggling with economic turmoil, unprofessional political environment, inactivity of leaders and the lack of government direction to restore the current state of the country,"

"The government also does not show the confidence, will and ability to deal with all the problems facing the people and the country quickly and effectively."

Even though Patriot is not satisfied with the government's service, the association hopes that they are able to help bring change in the system and help their fellow Malaysians, said Arshad.
