KUALA LUMPUR - Newly-minted Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi attended today’s Umno Youths Assembly, after exchanging greetings at the Wanita and Puteri wings’ assemblies respectively.

He was welcomed at the Umno Youth assembly with loud roaring applause by the Youth delegates that were present.

Delegates were elated with his presence, especially following BN's landslide win in the Johor state election last Saturday (March 12)

Prior to Onn Hafiz's appointment, Benut assemblymen and Johor BN chief Datuk Seri Hasni Mohammad was named as the coalition's only candidate for the state Menteri Besar during the state election campaign.

However, Hasni was snubbed at the last minutes and Onn Hafiz was appointed as Johor's 19th Menteri Besar, leaving rumours of discontent in Umno Johor.

It was also reported that Johor Umno delegates are expected not to participate in any debates at the party's annual general assembly which started yesterday (March 16) and will last until this Saturday (March 19).

According to Berita Harian, Hasni requested that Umno members not to prolong the issue during a meeting with state Umno leaders including division heads, last Tuesday (March 15).
