Johor Bahru MP Hassan Karim says there is wisdom to be found after PKR's defeat in 3 state elections

JOHOR BAHRU - Pasir Gudang MP Hassan Abdul Karim said losing three state elections does not spell the end of PKR, this comes after the party lost in Melaka, Sarawak, and the recent Johor polls.

He shot down claims that his party does not have a future.

The former Johor PKR chairman said that PKR is a reformist political party, and it will not give up not be subjected to defeat.

“There is wisdom to be found in PKR losing in these state elections. PKR can take a step back to assess and analyse the situation to get back in the game for the GE15.

"PKR is still one of the largest political blocs in Parliament. Its president, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is still the leader of the opposition as well as the leader of PH,” he said in a statement.

Commenting further, Hassan said outsiders have a right to their opinions and may call for Anwar to step down but only party members have the right to ask him to step down.

“If some PKR members feel that Anwar is no longer relevant, then they may vote him out in the upcoming party elections in April. Every member of PKR has the right to challenge Anwar as a presidential candidate," he said.

“But then again, everyone needs to reflect on the fact that the recent Johor state election proved that the strongest poster boy that won over voters was Anwar, " Hassan added.
