SHAH ALAM - Larkin - known for being the Muda-PKR battleground in this year’s Johor state election - saw an unexpected outcome tonight when BN won with a 6,178 majority.

The BN candidate Mohd Hairi Mad Shah from Umno obtained 16,053 votes leaving the other five candidates far behind.

PN’s Zulkifli Bujang (Bersatu) came in second with 9,875 votes.

PKR did however win the PKR-Muda clash where Dr Zamil Najwah Arbain from PKR got 6,448 votes ahead of Muda’s Muhammad Rasid Abu Bakar who obtained 4,948 votes.

Pejuang’s Mohamad Riadz Mohamad Hashim only received 810 votes while independent candidate Norramadan Buan obtained a mere 299 votes.

It was obvious that the six-cornered fight for the seat won BN’s favour as votes were split among the other five opponents, namely PKR and Muda. However, the combination of votes from both parties (11,396) still would not secure them a win.

A total 39,329 (51.7 per cent of eligible voters) votes were cast, with 632 rejected ballots and 264 unreturned ballots.

The incumbent was Mohd Izhar Ahmad (PKR) who won with a majority of 8,590 and polled 25,012 votes in the 14th General Election back in 2018.
