Only PH can provide political stability, not PN or BN, says coalition leaders
KULAI - In PH's last-ditch push for the Johor election, the coalition reminds Johoreans not to buy on the false notion of "political stability" portrayed by BN and PN.
Taking the two coalitions' tense feud leading up to and even during the election period, DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng in his fiery speech reminds Johoreans that both PN and BN are too busy trying to outdo one another instead of addressing the people's concerns.
"You have PN leaders attacking BN, you have BN leaders attacking PN.
"Look at just what Zahid Hamidi said today. In the next general election, not necessarily that Ismail Sabri would be the prime minister candidate. See they are even fighting among themselves.
"Is this the political stability they speak off? It's better you just vote Pakatan Harapan instead,'' he said.
Lim was referring to Umno President Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi's comment yesterday where he stated that Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob might not necessarily be BN's choice as the prime minister in the coming election.
Zahid also stated that he wished for the general election to be held the earliest after July of this year, after the memorandum of bipartisan cooperation is expected to expire between the opposition bloc and the government.
Before ending his speech, Lim, who is also a former finance minister pledged to do away with the paid toll for the North-South Highway, if PH were able to win in the coming general election.
“We can do it, as you only need RM40 billion to do away with the North-South highway concession but to do that we must win first,’’ he said to a cheering crowd.
Lim was giving a speech to some 100 people in the PH’s grand finale ceramah in Bukit Batu, here last night.
Right after Lim, PKR President Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim took centre stage for the ceramah, acting as the closer for all of PH’s campaign efforts throughout the election period.
The crowd grew to some 200 strong just before Anwar’s speech.
Pushing on the narrative that the government is unable to fight for much-needed reforms, Anwar chided BN and even PN supposed inability to fight for the common man.
“Have you ever heard of Umno, MCA or even Gerakan fight for minimum wage in Parliament? When I asked Ismail Sabri about this issue, he simply that after having a discussion with major companies, they are not ready.
“I would like to ask him (Ismail) are you for the big companies or for the people? Yet you go in the kampungs and said you will fight for them,’’ said Anwar.
Anwar also claimed that the people could not depend on BN leaders to resolve actual issues, despite the latter claiming to champion the rights of the people.
As an example, Anwar argued that the prices of goods and even petrol will rise after the state election.
“Just you see, prices of goods and petrol will rise after this state election. They only control the prices now for the state election, something I have often said is unnecessary to do,’’ said Anwar referring to the state election which cost the government nearly RM100 million to conduct.
Some 2.59 million Johoreans are expected to vote later today.
