Don't vote in the same corrupt party, Mahathir urges Johoreans on the eve of polls
MACHAP: With less than 12 hours before polls, Pejuang Chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad reminded voters that a tiger doesn't change its stripes.
Referring to old habits of abuse and corruption within Umno, he said "even when a tiger dies the strips remains".
"This is the habit of some," he said in his message tonight held live over Facebook page.
Taking a swipe at former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak again, he said the latter who is a convict wants to free himself of 12 years jail and RM210 million fines after he was found guilty, through polls.
The 96-year old further said usually elections are held according to the constitution but "if it is held earlier, it's because there is unhappiness with the present government.
"If elections are held, there should be changes as the rakyat want to see changes in the state administration and get rid of corrupt leaders," he said.
Members from his less than a year old party have taken an oath to be clean and to offer services that are best for the rakyat, he said.
"I hope Johoreans will choose the clean party like Pejuang. "If the same party (BN) wins again, it will be open to abuse.
"When we vote, we think of change, of a better state government," he told voters.
He said Pejuang has young leaders and experienced leaders like himself with 22 years of experience in developing Malaysia to help channel wisdom on the state's development.
The live was held with Pejuang candidate, Daruk Shahruddin Md Salleh who is facing a four-cornered fight at Machap seat.
Mahathir also told the Chinese and the Indian voters that even though Pejuang is a Malay party but their interest will be sidelined.
Pejuang is contesting in 42 out of 56 state seats.
