What makes a diamond sparkle? Understanding the 4Cs
One of the first thing that all should know about diamonds is that not all diamonds are created equally. In fact, every diamond has its own unique traits. Diamonds comes in many sizes, shapes, colors and with various internal characteristics.
There are four different important factors to describe and classify diamonds which is Clarity, Color, Cut and Carat Weight. They are known as the 4Cs and they define the quality of a finished diamond. This combination measures the price of a completed diamond.
Malaysians can learn more about diamonds with Habib through its Diamond Fest happening now until March 31 at all of its outlets.
"Diamond Fest provides a platform for us to share our expertise and knowledge about diamonds and the opportunity to show Malaysians that with Habib, everyone can own a diamond. Over the years, we are happy to see more and more of our customers become knowledgeable about diamonds. One can look forward to learning more about diamonds through the various activities taking place in our showrooms nationwide," says Habib group executive chairman Datuk Sri Meer Habib.
Every showroom features a few counters where customers can learn more about the 4Cs. It will also include a cozy space for coffee break, antique collections corner and a private room for piercing for women who don the hijab.
Sinar Daily spoke ato Habib’s experienced diamond trainer, known as Jamil who explained that among the 4C traits that contributes to the quality of the diamond, Clarity plays a bigger role. There are different grades of Clarity, which are labeled as Very-Very Slightly Included (VVS1) or Very Slightly (VS1), for example.
“VS1 has a high number of diamond inclusions which affects the diamond’s brilliance, appearance and durability. While the two may look identical without magnification, a VVS1 diamond is cleaner and has fewer blemishes,” he explained.
Being a diamond jeweler since the 1960's, a beautiful arrangement of the antique rose-cut diamond jewelry also known as "intan" is also being showcased.
Meer added that more people should know that in addition to gold, diamonds are also a good investment since prices have gone up considerably high.
Apart from that, Habib also has its own academy for research and training, not only for their customers but also for the public. Since they are big on educating people on how to buy diamonds and golds, Habib goes live every day via Instagram or Facebook to engage with the public.
The jewellery brand has put together an exciting line-up of collections for this Diamond Fest which includes the H Collection, Gelora, Fire On Ice, DWA Collection, Adore, Empress and Polaris collection as well as a newly added international brand, Korloff fine diamond jewelry from Paris.
