LANGKAWI: Pejuang chairman Dr Mahathir Mohamad has confirmed that he will not contesting in the coming general elections, stating the move is to give way to younger candidates.
The decision is also based on his health condition after being admitted in National Heart Institute (IJN) in December and January.
However, the 96-year old said he will be campaigning during elections.
"We in Pejuang want to find younger people in Langkawi," he said, adding he would assist the younger candidate to win polls. He said this during a visit to Lang Agro Park, according to Awani.
