Police says no to Azmin-Najib face-to-face debate on Felda
MUKHRIZ MAT HUSINJOHOR BAHRU - The police has said no to any face-to-face debates during the Johor state elections.
Johor police chief, Datuk Kamarul Zaman Mamat said this was to avoid any "tense situation" or chaos in the state.
"All face-to-face debate activities are not allowed. The current situation has improved, it has been calm and everyone is allowed to campaign.
"So we do not want anything that may disrupt peace which may cause all parties not being able to campaign," he said during a press conference at Johor Police Contingent Headquarters (IPK) on Sunday.
Earlier today, Cabinet Minister Azmin Ali threw a challenge at ex-prime minister Najib Razak over Felda. Azmin claimed Felda saw one of its worst days under Najib's administration, stating there are facts over his claims.
A debate between MCA president, Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong and DAP secretary-general, Lim Guan Eng was canceled after failing to get a green light from the police. It is understood that the programme scheduled to take place today at the Tiong Hua Association Hall Johor Bahru was on vernacular schools.
