JOHOR BAHRU - PN Chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has brushed off claims that he is being "quiet" as compared to his rival Datuk Seri Najib Razak who has managed to attract some fanfare in Johor state elections.

“What do you mean quiet? Najib is talking nonsense because he is a convict. How can you trust him?

“I speak based on facts.

"I'm not quiet but you people (the media) didn't report what I say. Not just me but my machinery is campaigning as well so it is not right to compare me with Najib,’’ said Muhyiddin during a press conference after launching the PN manifesto for the state election here today.

Muhyiddin was responding to a question by the press based on the observation that PN’s overall campaign seem to be a muted affair compared to BN who had enlisted the help of Najib, or fondly called “Bossku” in their campaign effort.

In recent days, Najib was seen campaigning in several locations in Johor, including in Pagoh where Muhyiddin is the MP, as means to rally support for BN.

Umno state leaders such as Datuk Seri Nur Jazlan have also stated that Najib remains an influential figure in Johor despite his criminal conviction and could be of help to the party.

For Muhyiddin, the former prime minister was made as PN’s poster boy for the state election with the tagline “Abah Prihatin”, portraying the former as a caring fatherly figure.
