KUALA LUMPUR - The investigation papers involving the son of tycoon Vincent Tan who was arrested for a drug-related offence has been handed over to the Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC) for further action.

Federal Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department director Datuk Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay said the case allegedly took place in December 2019, and the decision to charge the suspect was up to the AGC.

“It depends on the AGC whether to charge him or not. We have opened the investigation papers in December 2019 and submitted the findings of the investigations.

“We have not received any police reports regarding the matter,” he said during a press conference at the Kuala Lumpur police contingent headquarters on Monday.

On Feb 19, former Attorney-General Tan Sri Tommy Thomas denied allegations that he had received bribes while he was handling the criminal case of the well-known businessman’s son.

Thomas said after the accused was charged, the defence lawyers submitted a representation to the AGC to reconsider the decision to prefer charges against the accused.

The allegation against Thomas was made through a tweet by Edisi Khas.

In the tweet, Edisi Khas claimed that one of Tan’s sons was arrested on a drug-related offence in 2019, but this was concealed by Thomas.
