SHAH ALAM - The Dewan Rakyat sitting for this year starts on Monday, the second sitting under Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob's administration.

The focus will be on economic recovery and to table anti- hopping laws during the sitting held from Feb 28 to March 24.

The vacant deputy Speaker's chair after Azalina Othman Said resignation in Aug 23 is also expected to be filled. Bernama further reported quoting Deputy Speaker Datuk Mohd Rashid Hasnon that the motion to fill the chair has been included into the order papers.

"There will be a notion to fill in the chair as for now there is only one deputy. We need another," he told Sinar Harian.

Despite resigning from the post, Azalina was still chairing the sitting while waiting for a new deputy speaker.

On Oct 25, de facto law minister Datuk Seri Wan Juniadi Tuanku Jaafar had said the election for the seat will be held in the next sitting. The delay, he had said was to amend Article 15 (1) (b) of the Federal Constitution to allow the number of Speaker from the present two to three.
