SHAH ALAM - Rasuah Busters today introduced a cat character called “Agent Meow” as a symbol of its campaign to raise awareness on the importance of rejecting corruption.

The symbol was revealed during the launching event of the character, at the Kumpulan Karangkraf Complex, here, today.

Karangkraf Media Group chairman and leader of the anti-graft movement Datuk Hussamuddin Yaacob said the symbol of a cat was chosen because of its spirit and characteristics.

“People have lost faith in the system, so we hope that through the spirit and characteristics of cats, a message could be spread.

“We need to break the corruption chain and the best way to do it is by starting at home and control the problem by looking at our own family members,” he said.

He added that no act of bribery is ever too big or too small as there were no exceptions.

Meanwhile, Rasuah Busters core member Anas Zubedy who came up with the idea said the reason why they chose a cat was because it was an animal that is friendly, loyal, cute, and make wonderful companions.

However, he said cats can be fierce too, if they choose to be and this was a perfect formula to get the message spread, as bribery has become widespread nationwide.

He said most Malaysians were either cat lovers or cat owners themselves, which was why Rasuah Busters believed it would attract the public’s attention.

Anas said the objective was to instil hatred in Malaysians towards corruption.

Also present at the launching event were 30 representatives from cat associations from across the country who came along with their furry feline friends, which were put on display while the launching ceremony took place.
