SHAH ALAM - Pasir Gudang UMNO Youth chief Noor Azleen Ambros claimed that Undi18 is not a strong factor in the Johor state election as voters between the age of 18 to 20 comprised of only 6.4 per cent.

He explained that although the group has the power to impact the narrative, landscape and focus of the political party, it does not mean that the group has the power to decide on the formation of the state government.

“The young people might improve the political landscape of the country and it can be seen during Johor state election but it does not mean they are the decision-maker.

“Some of them are very optimistic as they also think about the global issue despite being young, however, they are not the dominant group with only 6.4 per cent out of 2.3 million voters.

He made the statement as a panelist on Berani Bersemuka programmed called ‘PRN Johor: Undi18: Jadi Penentu Kerajaan’ broadcast on every Sinar Harian digital platform on Monday.

Parit Sulong Armada chief KD Hussin Mohd Yunos was also a panellist in the programme.

Answering a question from KD Hussin on Umno's stance towards corrupt leaders, Noor Azleen said his party will not tolerate on matters of corruption or misconduct as to ensure the party remains relevant and accepted by the community.

"Umno will defend their own if these people are slandered with allegations of wrongdoings, as what has been prescribed in the constitution

“Those who have been slandered for misconduct of any form of wrongdoings will be defended as what has been mentioned in the constitution.

“Umno is consistent because if it is true that there is misconduct, we would not compromise because that is not the value that we want to practice.

Meanwhile, KD Hussin said that the Johor state election is a great opportunity for young people to be involved in deciding their own fate.

"it will also encourage more young people to think about what is good for the country and safeguarding their welfare.

"This is a great opportunity for young people to be involved in issues that concern them and this is where the role of the Perikatan Nasional (PN) is needed to show them how we solve the issue of the youth,'' he said.
