'Who are you trying to expose? Nur Jazlan questions Muhyddin
SHAH ALAM - Johor Umno deputy chief Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed has rapped National Recovery Council Chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin for leaking vital information on the nation’s finances.
Nur Jazlan stated such action is unacceptable, especially for Muhyiddin who is a former prime minister and should understand the sensitivity of the nation’s economic data.
Nur Jazlan also stated that Muhyiddin’s action is also akin to intimidation towards the current administration led by Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
“Muhyiddin's statement is a clear is a form of intimidation. When threats are made, I wonder what happens to his support towards Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob. If you keep throwing threats, what sort of support are you showing? “Muhyiddin’s action is not a form of support but an attempt to show the weakness of the current government,’’ he said to Sinar Daily.
The former deputy home minister also claimed that it was Muhyiddin’s supposed duplicitous nature, by claiming to support the current administration yet taking actions to belittle it, is among the reasons why Umno cannot trust Bersatu.
“It is because of Muhyiddin that Umno and Bersatu are not seeing eye to eye.
“Umno cannot trust him because of his forked tongue and Umno was even ‘bitten’ by him,’’ he claimed.
Nur Jazlan also reminded Muhyiddin not to be too “excited” on his supposed revelation on the nation’s alleged weak finances as he had served in the Pakatan Harapan (PH) as well as Perikatan Nasional’s (PN) Cabinet yet the latter had never said the country was about to go broke during his previous tenure. Nur Jazalan also pointed out that PH had even set up Tabung Harapan on May 30, 2018, to ask for donations to help strengthen the country’s finances.
“PH has openly lied and Muhyiddin at the time did not deny any of the malicious slanders thrown by PH. Muhyiddin had even witnessed how PH was recklessly selling off national assets while piling up the national debts but he didn't say a word.
“He has shown during the Covid-19 pandemic when Muhyiddin was able to spend RM600 billion for the nation.
“If BN bankrupted the country, then where did the money come from? Who is he trying to trap?’’ he asked.
Nur Jazlan also challenged Muhyiddin to back his claims with proper documentation and accompanying reports.
“My advice to Muhyiddin, enough is enough, just because you are no longer the PM, you pretended to announce something sensational. In the eyes of the people, leaders like this are deemed irresponsible, as you wanted to do this as the Johor state elections nears.
Commenting on Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz supporting Muhyyidin, Nur Jazlan said it was expected.
“His statement (Tengku Zafrul) supporting Muhyiddin is not surprising. Without Muhyiddin appointing him, where would he be now,’’ he said.
