Have you ever wondered how florists keep flowers fresh for customers? Flowers are delicate and maintaining the freshness of the flowers is not an easy task especially when they are stored in a huge amount.

The co-founder of BloomThis, Penny Choo said special conditions need to be met for fresh flowers stored in a warehouse in order to ensure that they last longer.

BloomThis stores more than 400 types of fresh flowers in the warehouse of 40,000 sq ft. It surely isn't an easy task managing that many type of flowers while meeting the demands of customers.

“The ideal temperature for fresh flowers in the warehouse is 2 to 9 degrees.

“In addition that, there are a few specific conditions to store the flowers like keeping them in clean pails and fresh water, trim them every day and maintain the cleanliness of the cold room as well,” she said in an interview with Sinar Daily.

She explained that the fresh flowers received from the suppliers will have to go through the stock check once it arrives at the warehouse.

Next, a quality test will be done to ensure that the fresh flowers are in a good condition and fit to be stored, cut and trimmed by the staff responsible to produce the final product.

Keeping the cold room clean at all times is crucial to maintain the freshness of the flowers.

Once the production team assembles the flowers into bouquets, it will be stored in the cold room once again before it gets delivered to customers.
