Missing 15-year old girl from Bentong, found in Kajang
SHAH ALAM - After going missing for nine days, the 15-year old girl from Bentong, Pahang was found by the police in Kajang, Selangor, today.
P. Pavitra, was reported missing on Feb 10, after she failed to return home from school, at Sekolah Kebangsaan Ketari, that day.
Bentong police chief Superintendent Zaiham Mohd Kahar said the police received a tip-off at about 3.30am that the girl had been spotted somewhere in Kajang.
He said the police then conducted checks in the area and found two girls aged 15 and 17 at a bus stop.
After checking both girls’ identification cards, Zaiham said police found that one of them was Pavitra.
Initial investigations revealed that the girl took a cab to her friend’s house in Kajang, where she stayed for almost six days.
She is currently admitted to the Bentong Hospital for health examination.
In a statement, Zaiham thanked members of the public who were concerned for the girl's well-being and for sharing information they had on the whereabouts of the girl to the police which led to the discovery.
He also advised parents to always monitor the whereabouts of their children as well as their behaviour closely.
“I would advise students to communicate often and discuss with their parents or guardians if they are facing any problems.
“This will keep them from making wrong decisions which will only cause trouble to themselves and their family,” he added.
On Feb 10, the day Pavitra went missing, her father received a call from the school van driver informing him that Pavitra did not get on the van after school, that day.
