Ebit Lew calm in facing 11 sexual harassment charges

TENOM - Celebrity preacher Ebit Lew, was seen calm as he faced 11 counts of sexual harassment charges at the circuit court in the Tenom district office, in Sabah, on Friday.

Ebit or his real name Ebit Irawan Ibrahim Lew, arrived at the vicinity of the district office at about 9am in a Toyota Vellfire accompanied by about 15 people believed to be his close acquaintances.

Under the circumstances, there were heavy police presence controlling the area.

Members of the media were not allowed to enter the office due to limited space.

The proceeding went on for about an hour before Ebit exited the office at about 10.30am to meet with those who were present at the office’s vicinity.

During the proceeding, Ebit pleaded not guilty to 11 counts of sexual harassment after the charges were read to him before magistrate Nur Asyraf Zolhani.

He was accused of sending obscene pictures and words with intention to insult the modesty of a woman via WhatsApp between March and June, last year.

The charges framed under Section 509 of the Penal Code provides for a jail term of up to five years, a fine, or both, if convicted.
