PUTRAJAYA - The Health Ministry will announce the new isolation protocol for those who are in close contact with Covid-19 positive patients, next week.

Its minister Khairy Jamaluddin said this was in line with the protocol applied to public healthcare workers.

“Public healthcare workers who are in close contact and developed no symptoms need not undergo isolation and will do Covid-19 self-tests on certain days instead,” he said at a press conference at the ministry, today.

He said a circular on the matter had been issued by Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah on Tuesday.

“The development will also include healthcare workers in private sectors.

"When there is a disruption to the economy, work processes will be severely affected," he said adding that there were too many incidents of close contacts.

He also said Covid-19 cases will now be announced with other related data the following day.
