SHAH ALAM: Former minister Maszlee Malik is set to contest the Layang-Layang seat in the Johor polls, one of the two constituencies under his parliamentary seat of Simpang Renggam.

Party president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has shown confidence in Maszlee to win the seat, calling him an icon in his own right. Anwar said this while announcing the PKR’s central zone candidates today..

PKR will be contesting 20 state seats and has so far announced five candidates for central region.

He will also be announcing the party’s central and eastern zone candidates in the coming days. He had also said the announcement for the eastern region later tonight was postponed.

Yesterday, Johor PKR had issued an invitation stating that all 20 candidates will be unveiled.

However, last-minute changes have delayed the announcement.

The other state constituency in Simpang Renggam is Machap.

The PH coalition is expected to contest in all 56 seats for the March 12 polls with early polling on March 8.The nomination day is on Feb 26.
