PKR announces first five candidates for Johor polls

SHAH ALAM: PKR has announced five of its candidates for the coming Johor state polls today, among the key candidates are state women chief Napsiah Khamis Maharan who is running for Kempas state.

The others are Tebrau PKR secretary Chiong Sen Sern who will be running for Bukit Batu won by Johor PKR deputy chief Jimmy Puah Wee Tse in Election 2018.

Johor PKR vice-chief S. Gopalakrishnan will be defending his Tiram state seat.

The other PKR candidates are Dr Zamil Najwah Arbain and Fakhruddin Moslim for Larkin and Pasir Raja respectively.

PKR president Anwar Ibrahim is expected to announce PKR’s remaining 15 candidates later.

PKR is expected to contest in all 20 state seats in the Johor state election after their talks over three seats with Muda was deadlocked.

The announcement was made through Facebook Live today.

Napsiah, 42, a central executive council member for PKR's women wing had sought to initially defend her Puteri Wangsa which was her state constituency before the state assembly was dissolved on Jan 22. Due to that, her candidacy for Kempas comes as a surprise for many.

The PH coalition is expected to contest in all 56 seats for the March 12 polls with early polling on March 8.Nomination day is on Feb 26.
