SHAH ALAM - Telekom Malaysia Bhd’s (TM) iconic Menara TM has been put up for sale for an undisclosed price, today.

According to an advertisement in StarBiz today, the sale of the 55-storey freehold tower was made via expression of interest.

The closing date for the first stage of the sale is on March 18 at 12pm, the advertisement stated.

Realtors WTW Real Estate Sdn Bhd has been appointed to act as the exclusive marketing agent to conduct the sale of the building.

Meanwhile, in an immediate response, TM clarified that the company was not involved in the intended sale by the owner of the property Menara ABS Bhd.

It said in a statement that TM was a tenant of the building located at Jalan Pantai Baharu, Kuala Lumpur.

“The company is currently in the process of relocating the majority of its corporate offices into its TM-owned properties, including TM Annexe 1 and TM Annexe 2 as well as its properties in Cyberjaya, as part of the company’s optimisation programme to enable greater efficiency and agility, and to accommodate hybrid working conditions,” it said.

Menara TM which was designed by Hijjas Kasturi and Serina Hijjas resembles a sprouting bamboo shoot and costs US$160 million (RM669 million) to build.
