SHAH ALAM - The Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (Muda) will contest six seats in the coming Johor state election after reaching a consensus with Amanah and DAP.
In a joint statement today, all three parties stated they will work together in the election and if successful, subsequently form the state government for the sake of the people.
Muda will contest in the state seat of Tenang, Bukit Kepong, Parit Raja, Machap, Puteri Wangsa and Bukit Permai.
With the addition of Muda and other new political parties such as Parti Pejuang Tanah Air and Parti Warisan Sabah, pundits have pointed out that it will be intense multi-corner fights in all of Johor's 56 state seats.
However, the statement did not mention Muda's official relationship with Pakatan Harapan (PH)'s leading component party, PKR.
PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had previously claimed that Muda wanted to contest in 10 state seats prior to any negotiations with PH.
However, Muda president Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman has refuted Anwar's claims and stated that the party will do its best to negotiate with other opposition parties to avoid any overlaps.
