Skidding trailer causes 40 kilometres of highway traffic congestion

KAMPAR - An accident involving two vehicles at km 302.4 along the North-South Highway, northbound today (Jan 29) caused a traffic congestion that stretched as far as 40km.

Kampar district police chief Superintendent Mohamad Nazri Daud said that the accident, which happened around 8.50am, involved a skidding trailer and a lorry.

"The trailer skidded into the right lane and at the same time, a lorry crashed into it. The accident caused the trailer to be 'stuck' on a divider in the middle of the highway.

"The trailer driver suffered minor injuries and was taken for treatment at the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital (HRPB) in Ipoh," he said.

He said only the right lane was closed for accident diversion work.

"The accident forced highway users to go through Tapah (Jalan Ipoh - Kuala Lumpur) to head north.

"Enforcement teams have been deployed to ensure smooth flow of traffic as the accident has caused traffic congestion due to an increase in the amount of vehicles present at the highway," he said.
