SHAH ALAM - The Tangkap Azam Baki protest last weekend was subdued compared to previous ones over the past few years, says political analyst Dr Oh Ei Sun.

"I think the protest is very subdued if we were to compare the protests happening a few years back in the nation such as the 'Bersih 4 Rally' on August 2015.

"At the end of the day, unfortunately, the whole idea of rousing more attention towards this issue has not quite succeeded because the scale of the protest is not as big as what happened a few years ago," he said in the Wacana English Edition titled "Reforming MACC - With or Without Azam Baki" on Jan 27.

Oh said over the last decade, Malaysia has seen lots of massive scale events such as street protests to prove their stands on the injustice and malpractice happening in the country.

However, he said the recent protest - #TangkapAzamBaki was relatively small.

He highlighted that the participants were forced to face many obstacles for this gathering such as the road closures and currently undergoing police questioning.

A total of 35 participants from the rally were called in for questioning at the Brickfields police headquarter.

"In comparison, this particular protest is small compared to the protest we have seen previously but we can see the activist-minded participants braving the various road closures and playing a game of cat and mouse with the authorities," he said.

On Jan 28, dozens of activists have been showing their support for their comrades and other individuals who were called in questioning for participating in the #TangkapAzamBaki last week.
