Jais to investigate deviant teaching on Pakistani's 'dreams'

SHAH ALAM - The Selangor Islamic Religious Department (Jais) are investigating claims on the spread of a teaching involving the dreams of a man from Pakistan by a group known as Gerakan Akhir Zaman (Gaza).

Selangor Islamic Religious Council (Mais) chairman Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusof said the department has yet received any reports on the deviant teaching emerging in Selangor.

“There are various deviant teachings that has been spreading in Selangor, so investigations are still ongoing. The Gaza movement is a new thing which probably originated from the old teachings.

“We are still looking into it. I have discussed this with the director of Jais and the Inspector-General of Police to investigate the matter.

"Only then will Jais decide on the next course of action,” he explained.

He said this in response to the Sinar Harian report on Wednesday about the Pakistani man who claimed to have had dreams about the end of time.

"Mais is facing challenges and threats to the religious belief system with the emergence of teachings by those like Ibu Yati, atheists and secularists," he said in his speech at the launching of the K-Guam at Auditorium Dahlia, Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah mosque, here, on, Thursday.

He said the problem was not new, and efforts to prevent the spreading of such teachings could be done through education, enforcement, and rehabilitation to ensure the issue was being dealt with.

He added that court cases and laws surrounding the issues of the Islamic faith will be handled by the Syarak and Civil Law Technical Committee (Perlima).
