Ex-GLC senior manager arrested for alleged bribery
KOTA KINABALU - A former senior manager of a government-linked company (GLC) was arrested by the Sabah Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to assist investigations into a bribery case involving RM170,000.
The 51-year old suspect was detained at the MACC office, here, at about 9.30am, today, after he turned up to give his statement.
According to a source, the suspect was believed to have accepted the bribes in a form of cash and had renovated his house which was estimated to be worth RM170,000 from a contractor in return of helping with all the payment claims for works carried out by the contractor.
Meanwhile, Sabah MACC director Datuk S. Karunanithy, confirmed the arrest and said the case was being investigated under Section 16 (a)(A) of the MACC Act 2009.
"The suspect will be charged at the Special Corruption Court, here, soon," he said when contacted.
