SHAH ALAM - Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s health, who is currently being treated at the National Heart Institute (IJN), showed improvements today.

The former premier’s eldest daughter Datin Paduka Marina Mahathir said his appetite has improved and even managed to crack some jokes with family members who were by his side.

"Dr Mahathir was also told of the prayers and well wishes from everyone including foreign leaders and the public.

"Dr Mahathir and the family are touched and thank all those who prayed for his speedy recovery," she said in a statement today.

Marina said Dr Mahathir, who will continue receiving treatment at IJN under the supervision of local experts, asked the public not to worry too much about his health.

"Currently, IJN does not allow visitors other than immediate family members,” she said.

On Saturday, Marina said Dr Mahathir's condition was stable and responded well to the further treatment after the elective procedure conducted on Jan 8 earlier this month.

In a statement, she said Dr Mahathir was admitted on Jan 7 to undergo an elective medical procedure the next d and was allowed to leave on Jan 13.
