Covid-19: KJ cautioned rise in cases during Thaipusam and CNY if SOPs are not followed through
SHAH ALAM - The total daily cases of Covid-19 in Malaysia is expected to be on a rise during two main celebrations which are Thaipusam and Chinese New Year if the public does not adhere to the standard operating procedures (SOP).
Health Minister, Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar reminded the public to always adhere to the SOP especially in wearing the face maks apart from practising the TRIIS (screening test, report the result of the screening test, undergo quarantine, inform the close contacts if tested positive and get immediate treatment).
“Activate the MySejahtera Trace function in public places and get the booster shots,” he said on Twitter today.
Commenting further, Khairy added, Malaysians had succeeded in making sure the spread of the Covid-19 virus remains under control after the Christmas and New Year celebrations despite the threat of Omicron looming.
In the past few days, the total number of daily cases remained between 2,600 to 3,700 cases although the Covid-19 infectious rate has increased to 1.0.
We have done well ensuring COVID-19 infectivity remains under control throughout Christmas & New Year despite Omicron. As we head into Thaipusam & CNY, daily numbers may go up so keep maintaining SOPs (esp masks), #TRIIS, switch on MySJ Trace in crowded areas & get boosted. pic.twitter.com/ixQsxwJms3
