A mother can take care of 10 children but it might not be the same way around.

That was the saying that we often hear from the people around us and it is not hard to deny the statement looking at the situation now.

Especially when the children have already settled down and have their own family.

In addition, nowadays, most of us opt to have a career to sustain our lives.

However, we should not deny the fact that there are people who choose to quit their jobs to take care of their parents.

Masya-Allah, we can clearly see that they have a heart of gold as they are willing to take care of their parents as it requires a lot of patience, especially when they are sick.

We should take care of them the same way they took care of us and educated us since birth.

Although it was done without any grievances, nothing compares to what they have provided for us growing up.

A question arose of who exactly needed to take care of the mother after the father had passed away?

To answer the question, a preacher Ahmad Dusuki Abd Rani explained, in that situation, it is the responsibility of the eldest son to take care of the mother.

“If not, the mother can be taken care of by the uncle, or the individuals where it will not break the wudu' between them,” he said, excerpted from a Tik Tok video that was shared on his Facebook recently.

Even so, Ahmad Dusuki advised that we should take the opportunity to take care of the person who gave birth to us.

“We should not refuse to take care of our mother and take the chances to gain their blessing while they are still alive as the rewards (pahala) are huge.

“One more thing, we should not let the ‘reward’ turns into a sin,” he advised.

We should understand that taking care of the parents is the responsibility of the children as mentioned in the al-Quran.

In the words of Allah, which carries the meaning of: “Your Lord (Allah) has commanded that you should worship none but Him, and be kind to your parents. If either or both of them reach old age with you, say no word that shows impatience with them, and do not be harsh with them, but speak to them with respectfulness.” (Al-Israq, verse 23)

Meanwhile, excerpting from the 356th series of Irsyad al-Hadith’s article: The responsibility of the children towards the parents as presented in the official website of mufti of federal territory, those who have time to serve both of their parents can be considered as fortunate individuals.

“This is because Prophet Muhammad SAW used to mention that the lowest degree of a human being is those who are in the company of their parents but did not use it as means to enter paradise,'' the article mentioned.

From Abu Hurairah RA, Rasulullah SAW said: "Humiliation, humiliation, humiliation". He was asked: "Who (do you mean) O Messenger of Allah?" He replied: "Whoever still has their parents, one or both, but does not (make it a means) to enter heaven." (Hadith Narrated by Muslim) Therefore, for those who still have the parents, be devoted to both of your parents while they are still alive and help them as much as you can.

If the people who gave birth and raised us are no longer in the world, always pray for them.

Remember, there is no barrier between the prayers of a righteous child and their parents even though they are no longer in this world.
