Man charged with murder of two siblings
SELAYANG: A jobless man was charged at the magistrate's court, here, with the murder of two siblings aged 19 and 3 in a heartbreaking house fire tragedy in Kampung Baru Kundang, Rawang, last year.
Mohd Fauzi Selamat, 46, who was clad in a black T-shirt nodded his head, indicating that he understood the charge that was read to him before magistrate Nik Mohd Fadli Nik Azlan, today.
However, no plea was recorded as the case was under the purview of the High Court.
According to the charge sheet, Mohd Fauzi was alleged to have murdered B.Diviyah, 19, and her 3-year old brother, at the victims' house in Kampung Baru Kundang between 10.10am and 10.40am, on Sept 14, 2021.
The charge under Section 302 of the Penal Code carries a mandatory death sentence, if convicted.
Deputy public prosecutor Wan Nur Iman Afzal conducted the prosecution while the accused was unrepresented.
Mohd Fauzi was not allowed bail and his case will be up for mention on March 16 pending the post mortem and chemist reports.
During the proceedings, lawyer Mahendren Naidu held the watching brief for the victims' family.
On Sept 14, last year, Sinar Harian reported that a teenage girl died while her younger brother suffered serious injuries when their house in Kampung Baru Kundang, caught fire.
The boy later succumbed to his injuries while he was at the hospital.
