Sinar Harian reporter offered to obtain the Covid-19 vaccine certificate for RM500
The promotion of the digital vaccine certificate on WhatsApp is getting out of hand
IZWAN ROZLINThe offer was made after the reporter called the number of the person promoting the MySejahtera digital vaccine certificate on WhatsApp.
The Sinar Harian reporter disguised as a person who wanted to obtain the digital vaccine certificate for his parents who were said to be sick and refused to take the vaccine shots.
At the start of the conservation, the individual convinced the reporter that the digital certificate was valid for two doses of vaccine shots and it would be registered in the MySejahtera application.
The "original" certificate is said to be legitimate for official business including travelling abroad.
After the agreement was made, the individual asked for a copy of the identification number, address, and the medical history of the reporter’s parents.
The vaccine certificate on the MySejahtera profile will only be updated when the documents and the transaction are made.
The Ministry of Health (MOH) on Wednesday revealed there were violations to the standard operating procedures (SOP) when 17 out of 122 Omicron cases involving Umrah pilgrims as of Tuesday, were unvaccinated.
Its minister, Khairy Jamaluddin reportedly stated that they are monitoring the Umrah pilgrims and subsequently, the Home Affairs Minister, Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin even admitted that there were some flaws during the screening process that led to the 17 unvaccinated individuals being able to perform Umrah and return to Malaysia recently.
However, Hamzah stated that the blame should not be pinned on the Immigration Department as those who entered the national border have already brought their boarding pass.
