Umno should walk away from MN as PAS can't be trusted due to their "polyamorous" tendencies

SHAH ALAM - PAS's insistence on committing to both Muafakat Nasional (MN) and Perikatan Nasional (PN) shows that its leaders are acting in self-interest by wanting the best of both worlds without being held responsible, claims Johor Umno deputy chief Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed.

Despite PAS leaders expressing their intention to retain cooperation with Umno under MN, Nur Jazlan however argued that it would be best for Umno to simply walkout from the pact and dissolve it entirely.

"This is because PAS leaders have shown their true intentions. Because of their lack of commitment and polyamorous tendencies, PAS is no longer a grassroots party, unlike Umno.

"PAS is now a top-down party where the leaders dictate the direction of the party. While PAS ordinary members want what is best for the party, PAS leaders are simply self-serving.

"There is no use for Umno to stay on with Muafakat (MN) anymore. Umno should move on and dissolve the pact,'' he said.

Nur Jazlan is among the consistent voices in the party to voice his lack of trust in PAS as the Islamist party wanted to continue their cooperation with Umno's estranged foe-turned-ally-turned-foe Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu).

Nur Jazlan was commenting on PAS President Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang's recent statement, urging Umno members to follow the decision of their Supreme Council members, who the latter claimed a majority wanted to continue cooperation with PAS under the MN and PN banner.

This however drew a retort from several Umno party leaders, including information chief Shahril Hamdan who went on to remind PAS to respect the "decorum" set between both parties and stated that any views discussed between Umno supreme council members are private.
