My50 unlimited travel pass begins today

Starting today, the My50 unlimited travel pass will officially replace the My30 unlimited travel pass which means Malaysians will have to pay RM20 more for the unlimited pass.

Available exclusively to Malaysians, the My50 travel pass provides unlimited rides on all public transport services operated by Prasarana, which are the LRT, MRT, BRT, monorail and Rapid KL bus service as well as the Jom Naik MRT shuttle bus.

According to Transport Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong, the My50 travel pass is also available in Penang for unlimited use of the Rapid Penang bus service under the Pas Mutiara label. “For Penang, the travel pass will be called the My50 Mutiara Pass and it can be used on the Rapid Penang bus service,” he said.

Things to know about the My50 Unlimited Travel Pass.

1. According to Wee, My50 unlimited travel pass was made possible with the allocation of RM 115 million under the National Recovery Plan.

2.The government subsidiary will allow Prasarana to accommodate the facilities at reasonable rates for their clients who use their services.

3. My30 unlimited travel pass was introduced in June 2020 to help the public in going through the effect of Covid-19.

5. The My50 unlimited travel pass is only offered to Malaysian citizens with a valid MyKad or MyTentera ID only.

“The unlimited pass will be linked to your MyKad or MyTentera. It can be purchased at all LRT, MRT, Monorail and BRT stations as well as selected Rapid KL bus hubs," said Wee.

Before the covid-19 pandemic, the unlimited travel pass for bus services and Rapid KL trains including LRT, BRT, MRT, monorail and MRT transit bus was RM100 a month.

Prasarana used to serve up to 1.1 million passengers a day back in 2019, prior to the outbreak of Covid-19 but as of December 2021, the average number of daily passengers handled by Prasarana stands at 462246 passengers.
