Iman Troye gets featured on the New York Times Square digital billboard
Up and coming singer Iman Troye is the latest Malaysian talent to grace the iconic New York Times Square digital billboard.
Iman, whose real name is Siti Nur Alyssa Sahabudin said as a new star in the local music industry, she was grateful and overwhelmed by the great success she had achieved.
The 19-year-old singer's appearance on the billboard is part of Spotify's Equal campaign, which is a global programme aimed to foster more equity for women in music.
Through the Equal campaign, there are 35 local Equal playlists covering artists from 50 countries. Iman represents the Malaysia and Singapore's playlist. "So glad to be featured on Equal, representing Malaysia and Singapore on New York City Times Square. Thank you everyone!" she posted on her Instagram. She is the third hijab-wearing artiste from Malaysia to be featured on the digital billboard, following the footsteps of names like Yuna, and Layla Sania. Local female pop group Dolla was also featured.
Shortly after the announcement, fans flocked to her Instagram post to congratulate her on the huge milestone, wishing her a successful journey ahead in the music industry.
A few fun facts; Iman rose to popularity after gaining traction for her covers of popular songs by Malaysian artistes, and her hit tune Teman garnered 45 million views on YouTube.
