KLANG - Police shot dead a local man in Jalan Bayu Tinggi, Bandar Bukit Tinggi, earlier today, believing he was involved in a kidnapping case that occurred at Avenue Seremban, Negeri Sembilan, on Thursday.
Federal Police Criminal Investigation Department (CID) deputy director (Intelligence/Operations), Datuk Fadil Marsus said the suspect had kidnapped a 16-year-old girl and demanded a ransom of RM2 million.


He said the victim’s family paid RM280,000 and handed over some jewellery to the suspect.
"At 8.30pm on Friday, the suspect released the victim at Nusari Bayu Sendayan, Seremban 2, Negeri Sembilan.
"Police managed to track down a Proton Wira in Jalan Bayu Tinggi, Bandar Bukit Tinggi, Klang, Selangor, at 4.15am on Monday.
"When the police attempted to stop the vehicle, the suspect rammed into the police car and tried to flee," he said on Monday.
According to him, the police gave chase and managed to intercept the suspect’s vehicle, which led to a shootout.
He added that the suspect, a 21-year-old with no prior criminal record, was fatally shot.
He also said that police seized a Colt semi-automatic pistol and a machete from the suspect.
Following the shootout, he said police arrested three men and three women in the area of Jalan Tiara Sendayan, Negeri Sembilan.
All those detained were aged between 20 and 31.
He added that police managed to recover RM230,000 of the ransom money and other seized items were still under police review.
