SHAH ALAM – Majlis Amanah Rakyat (Mara) has ordered an immediate investigation into allegations of bullying at a Mara Junior Science College (MRSM) in Penang.
Its chairman Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said strict action would be taken and no compromise would be given to any MRSM student found guilty of such behaviour.
"I have instructed my officers to investigate immediately whether this incident truly occurred at an MRSM. If it is confirmed that these individuals are MRSM students, there will be no compromise — firm action will definitely be taken," he said in a Facebook post on Monday.
He posted the statement following a viral video on Facebook raising concerns about a bullying incident at an MRSM in a northern state of Peninsular Malaysia.
Commenting further, he reiterated that students involved in bullying would face expulsion from the institution.
"You touch, you go! No place for bullies or anyone trying to normalise bullying in any form at MRSM,” he stressed.
Earlier, a one-minute-31-second video went viral showing several students allegedly stepping on and sitting on another student.
Even more shockingly, they used a belt to tie his legs. However, the male victim did not appear to resist.
On the Utara Kini Facebook page, some users questioned whether the act was indeed bullying or simply a case of rough play taken too far.
