Investigations must first determine who was at fault before any legal claims for damages can proceed.

SHAH ALAM - Victims of the gas pipeline fire in Putra Heights cannot seek compensation until the responsible party is identified.

Lawyer M Hafiz Zainul Abidin said investigations must first determine who was at fault before any legal claims for damages can proceed.

"Although the pipeline belongs to Petronas, the key issue is identifying which party was negligent.

"Only then can compensation claims be directed at either Petronas or the developer involved," he told Sinar.

He clarified that victims must provide a detailed account of their losses in the claims process, including property damage, physical injuries and psychological effects.
