We cater to the trend of coordinated family outfits, with matching colours and designs. We encourage early Aidilfitri preparations for a wider selection and better sizing options. Shoppers can also compare prices and quality with other retailers by following us on social media.

What campaigns or promotions will Mydin launch this Ramadan and when will they begin?

We’re launching the "Excited Raya” campaign, offering significant savings on Ramadan and Aidilfitri essentials. We’ll also have contests with attractive prizes and exciting activities. For example, adult Baju Melayu range from RM30 to RM99.90 and children’s sizes from RM30 to RM69.90. Songkoks start at RM15 and while butang baju Melayu are included in the sets, we also offer separate options from RM7.90. Kurtas are available from RM29.90 for adults and RM20 for children. Sampins range from RM19.90 to RM99.90. Baju Kurung, including scarves, range from RM59.90 to RM199.90 for adults and RM39.90 to RM129.90 for children.

Even with competitive prices, we stay current with fashion trends and colors based on customer demand. More importantly, it’s about giving back to the community, especially our B40 and M40 customers.

Mydin is continuing its collaboration with Sinar for the "Jelajah Iftar Sinar Mydin 2025” programme. What’s new this year?

This mass iftar event includes pre-iftar religious talks. This year, it will be held at nine Mydin branches: Subang Jaya, Mutiara Rini (Johor Bahru), MITC Melaka, Seremban 2 (Negeri Sembilan), Meru (Ipoh), Bukit Mertajam (Pulau Pinang), Petra Jaya (Sarawak), Tunjong (Kelantan) and Jengka (Pahang). This annual initiative supports those who may not have time to break their fast at home, providing a convenient location for iftar, tarawih prayers and shopping.

What other collaborations is Mydin involved in?

Mydin is partnering with suppliers to raise RM300,000 through the Mydin Prihatin initiative, with around 53 partners this year. With each purchase from participating suppliers, a portion will be donated to the fund. We aim to collect RM300,000 to support various Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programmes, including food aid, festive contributions and other community assistance. This initiative runs from Feb 1 to April 30 and includes a matching grant. We also plan to take underprivileged children shopping for Aidilfitri.

Will Mydin’s bubur lambuk distribution continue this year?

Yes, Mydin will distribute 45,000 packs of bubur lambuk across 33 selected branches nationwide. We partner with suppliers who contribute products to support this initiative, sharing the spirit of Ramadan with the community. This also allows suppliers to participate in CSR activities.

Will Mydin’s Ramadan bazaars continue?

Yes, Mydin hosts Ramadan bazaars within or around its premises, providing opportunities for small traders to sell iftar food. This is especially helpful for those who can’t secure spots in government-designated bazaars.

Why should Malaysians choose Mydin for Ramadan and Aidilfitri shopping?

Unlike competitors who offer similar products, Mydin provides a wider variety. For example, we offer open spices like chili powder, Baju Raya, prayer mats for donations and bulk purchases. This sets us apart. We also maintain competitive pricing to remain relevant.

Consumers should remember that price fluctuations are often tied to supplier costs. Fortunately, we aren’t seeing many price hikes this year, especially for basic necessities.

Does Mydin offer online shopping?

Yes, customers can buy Baju Melayu, Baju Kurung, butang baju, samping and other essentials online. I recommend browsing online first to check prices and availability before visiting Mydin for purchases, ensuring the right size, colour and quality. We also offer online purchases for Raya cookies, decorative lights and other festive items.

Final advice for consumers?

Be smart shoppers. Compare prices and spend wisely. Buy within your means and don’t chase expensive brands when affordable options exist.

"Even though our prices are among the lowest in the market, we still follow fashion trends and colour preferences. However, what matters most is not the brand but what we can give back to the community, especially our B40 and M40 customers.”
