Model and actress Zahnita Wilson acknowledged that highly educated individuals, including those with PhDs and master’s degrees, often make significant sacrifices for their children, sometimes putting their professional aspirations on hold.

MANY women, particularly mothers, often struggle with a sense of identity loss after stepping away from their careers to focus on their families.

Despite their qualifications and professional experience, returning to the workforce can seem daunting, leaving many unsure of their place in the industry.

Model and actress Zahnita Wilson acknowledged that highly educated individuals, including those with PhDs and master’s degrees, often make significant sacrifices for their children, sometimes putting their professional aspirations on hold.

However, Zahnita Wilson, whose full name is Zahnita Dorothy Hussein Wilson, urged them not to feel discouraged.

"Your career is still there. You are still who you are, and don’t be afraid to put yourself first and prioritise your career because if that’s what makes you happy, then go for it.

"A happy mum is a happy kid. You know, a happy family,” she said when met recently.

She emphasised that stepping back from a career does not mean giving it up entirely.

Many women face challenges in balancing work and family life, often feeling guilty about pursuing their ambitions.

However, Zahnita encouraged them to recognise their worth and embrace opportunities when they arise.

"If you feel that the demands of your career are weighing you down and affecting your family life, by all means, take a break – but that doesn’t mean it’s over,” she added.

After years of dedicating herself to her family, Zahnita Wilson is making a return to the industry.

She has recently teamed up with NR Cosmetics (NRC), which has named her the Face of NRC Raya 2025.

Zahnita shared that she is currently working on a major photoshoot for the campaign alongside NRC’s founder, Nuex Rosli, who is also an old friend.

While she is taking on smaller projects, her primary business focus remains on ‘Zahnita’s Humble Pies,’ which continues to thrive.

She expressed her excitement about returning to the fashion industry and hinted at the possibility of a full comeback.

"I really miss the runway, and I can already feel my presence slowly returning to the industry.

It’s very emotional, and I’m loving it because, to be honest, I’ve missed it for a long time,” she added.

Acknowledging the changing landscape of the media industry, Zahnita highlighted the vital role of social media in sustaining businesses and personal branding.

She pointed out that traditional platforms, such as magazines and newspapers, are no longer the dominant forces they once were.

"Social media is one of the biggest supports I have right now, because we no longer have mass media like before,” she said.

"My social media has carried my business to where it is today, and it plays a huge role in any business these days.”

Zahnita’s journey serves as an inspiration to many women who may feel hesitant about reigniting their careers.

Her message is clear, and that is taking time off for family does not mean the end of professional aspirations.

With determination and the right opportunities, the transition back into the workforce is always possible.

In the meantime, Zahnita Wilson is set to take the stage as a panelist at ‘She Leads 6: Crowned in Confidence – Smart Money Moves to Thrive Financially,’ an event designed to equip women with the tools to break free from financial insecurity.
