In a heartfelt Facebook post, Najib shared his emotions, expressing both happiness and a deep longing.

SHAH ALAM – Former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak experienced a mix of joy and sorrow today with the news of his latest grandchild’s arrival.

His daughter-in-law, Nikola Mulyadi, the wife of his youngest son Mohd Norashman Najib, gave birth to a baby boy.

However, Najib could only celebrate the occasion from a distance, given his current imprisonment.

In a heartfelt Facebook post, Najib shared his emotions, expressing both happiness and a deep longing.

"My child got married, but I couldn’t attend. I have a new grandchild, yet I can’t be there. My eyes welled up hearing this," he wrote.

Despite his circumstances, Najib conveyed his strength and gratitude.

"I remain strong and happy when I see pictures, celebrating the arrival of Ardan," he added.

Najib’s son, Norashman, married Nikola in December 2023.

The birth of their son, Ardan, brings a bittersweet joy to the family, overshadowed by Najib’s absence.

Currently serving a six-year prison sentence for misappropriating RM42 million from SRC International Sdn Bhd, Najib also faces 25 additional charges.

These include four counts of using his position to secure RM2.3 billion in bribes linked to 1MDB and 21 counts of money laundering.
