SHAH ALAM - Several individuals have confronted an umrah operator accused of failing to transport its pilgrims, believed to be victims of the alleged scam, since Monday night.
According to a live broadcast on TikTok, company employees were reportedly prevented from leaving the premises until all victims received refunds for the packages they had paid for.
During the tense standoff, a female employee from the company’s finance unit reportedly collapsed due to a panic attack and anxiety, as shown in the broadcast.
Earlier, Sinar reported that approximately 300 pilgrims were left stranded after the umrah operator, based in Sepang, Selangor, postponed their flight dates at the last minute.
The company attributed the delay to alleged cancellations of hotel bookings by the Saudi Arabian authorities.
However, one pilgrim, who identified herself as Ida, claimed that further inquiries revealed there were no flight bookings made for the group.
She also stated that the status of their visas and accommodations could not be confirmed.
As of 2.30pm today, several individuals believed to be victims of the scam were still at the company’s headquarters, demanding refunds for the packages they had purchased.
Authorities have yet to comment on the situation, and it remains unclear how the company intends to resolve the matter.
